Sophia Lewis-Mussa is in her 3rd year at UC Santa Cruz, earning her degrees in Environmental Studies and Anthropology. She has a passion for research in conservation ecology and environmental education, and is working as a CAMINO Intern with doctoral researcher Elsie Carrillo under Rita Mehta’s lab.
Their research focuses on the diving behavior and health of valley garter snakes in the San Joaquin-Sacramento River Delta. Outside of research, Sophia enjoys traveling, film photography, and spending time in nature.
