Sofia Rivas

A group of six hikers walking through a grassy meadow towards a forest of tall evergreen trees under a clear blue sky.

Hi, my name is Sofia Rivas (she/her) and I am a third-year Marine Biology student. I will be working in the Raimondi-Carr lab with Calvin Munson studying the process of kelp forest recovery through experiments on cultivating kelp and evaluating sea urchin grazing.

I am deeply passionate about marine ecology and conservation so I’m very excited for this internship! Outside of school and research, I love reading, traveling, cooking, playing board games, and going on nature adventures along the California coast (preferably with my dogs).
