My interests for understanding nature through observation were continuously sparked while working with Santa Cruz Mountains Reserve. I’ve enjoyed questioning every part of the learning and research process, from our methods, to data collection, field observation, data analysis and communication. Being curious about nature began in my hometown Redding, CA, surrounded by the mountain and forest ranges. This year, I’m going into my senior year as a Plant Science major with a new lens for understanding. These summer experiences have shaped the way I choose to question and be mindful about learning and researching in all areas of life, including the way I enjoy my hobbies of yoga, dance, cooking and hiking!
