Hi, I’m Elm 😀 and I’m heading into my sophomore year as a double major in Environmental Science and Environmental Studies. My long-term goal is to become a conservation scientist and help develop sustainable solutions for today’s environmental challenges.
This summer, I’ve been working on Edith’s project in the Parker and Gilbert labs, where we study how plant diseases are distributed in the wild. My focus has been surveying powdery mildew fungi and their hyperparasites across Santa Cruz County. It’s been a rewarding experience to contribute to this research while being part of such a welcoming and supportive lab community.
Outside of school and the lab, I enjoy orchid keeping and going on solo travel adventures whenever I get the chance; a love I picked up from my mom, who always encouraged me to explore the world.
