Haruna Krumholz

A group of six hikers walking through a grassy meadow towards a forest of tall evergreen trees under a clear blue sky.

Hello! My name is Haruna Krumholz, and I am a fourth-year undergrad studying Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. In my free time, I enjoy film photography, biking, and playing Ultimate Frisbee. I love learning about animal behavior and physiology, ecological processes, conservation, and the effects of climate change on various ecosystems.

This summer, I will be working with the Zavaleta lab to gather and analyze data from a historic field journal of a renowned naturalist, Joseph Grinnell. I am excited to learn how to use tools such as GIS and R to understand what the bird diversity in the Sierra Nevadas looked like a 100 years ago! I’m very grateful for this opportunity to gain valuable experience in data analytics and to get to know my science community!
