Escarly Vazquez

A group of six hikers walking through a grassy meadow towards a forest of tall evergreen trees under a clear blue sky.

My name is Escarly Vazquez and I am a sophomore majoring in Marine Biology here at UCSC. Over the summer I will intern at the Palkovacs lab researching Steelhead fish migratory behaviors and collecting leaf packs to investigate leaf decomposition. A bit about me is I am originally from Sonoma, California but currently residing here in Santa Cruz.

I enjoy playing soccer, running, baking, and reading Sci-Fi novels when I have the time. I’m not sure which career in marine biology I want to pursue but I hope that through this internship, I can broaden my perspective and knowledge that will help me explore various career options in the future.
