My name is Anna DiMarco and I’m a third year Marine Biology student at UCSC!
Growing up in Monterey, the ocean has always played a big role in my life, fueling my passion for conservation and my commitment to contributing to a thriving marine environment.
This summer I have been interning with the Long Marine Lab Marine Mammal Stranding Network, gaining unique hands-on experience performing necropsies (animal autopsies) on marine mammals, and conducting my own research project on an unusual case of California Sea Lion pup strandings that occurred in 2024.
In my free time, I volunteer at the Marine Mammal Center’s Monterey Bay Facility, responding to sick marine mammals and providing rehabilitative care.
I love working with marine life and am happy to have this internship opportunity!
